TL;DR

Sage Intacct is the finance-first step up from QuickBooks Online in 2026 for a team with several entities and a board pack to build, though it sells only by quote. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is the ERP with a printed rate, $80 a user a month on Essentials, paid yearly, and NetSuite is the quote-only pick when inventory and orders must post with the close. For a company that only hit the user cap, Xero Established at $97 a month has no per-user fee, against $340 a month for QuickBooks Online Advanced with its 25-user ceiling. Prices were read on vendor pages on October 21, 2026.

  • Updated: November 4, 2026
  • Top pick: Sage Intacct (best for: Multi-entity finance teams that want consolidation and dimensional reporting without an ERP project)
  • Top pick price as of November 4, 2026: Sage Intacct: Quote only; priced by the modules your organization needs
  • 9 tools compared: Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Acumatica, Rillet, Odoo, Xero, Zoho Books, Digits
  • NetSuite (best for: Companies whose inventory, orders or projects must post with the close): Quote only; the pricing page routes to a Get Pricing form
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (best for: Growing companies that want a full ERP with a seat price they can budget before the first call): Essentials $80/user/mo; Premium $110/user/mo; Team Members $8/user/mo, all paid yearly
  • Acumatica (best for: Distribution, construction and field teams with many occasional users): Quote; priced on applications, usage and resources, and license type, with unlimited users

Companies rarely leave QuickBooks Online because the ledger is wrong. They leave because the company changed shape: a second legal entity, a 26th person who needs a login, inventory that has to post with the close, or a board that wants department and location reporting QuickBooks was never built to produce. Each of those triggers points to a different shortlist, and a few of them do not need a new ERP at all.

CFOpresso data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, evaluated 280 accounting tools for its accounting ranking as of October 21, 2026. QuickBooks is listed as an alternative to 98 other tools there, second only to Odoo at 104, and the two were also the most compared accounting tools in the 90 days to October 2026 (Odoo 470 side-by-side comparisons, QuickBooks 467). Buyers weigh QuickBooks against almost everything, which is why the right exit depends on the trigger, not on a generic top-ten list.

How we ranked: on October 21, 2026 we read each vendor's pricing and product pages and ordered the nine picks by how well they fix the limits that push a growing company off QuickBooks Online: entities and dimensions first, then operations, then seat cost. A published price breaks ties. We ran no hands-on tests. If you are still deciding whether to leave, start with our QuickBooks Online pricing breakdown and the QuickBooks Online review.

1 Sage Intacct logo
Top Pick

Sage Intacct

The finance-first step up from QuickBooks Online, built around entities, dimensions and a faster close.

Pricing
Quote only; priced by the modules your organization needs

Best for: Multi-entity finance teams that want consolidation and dimensional reporting without an ERP project

Pros

  • Consolidates hundreds of entities across currencies in one system, per Sage's product page
  • The only finance solution preferred by the AICPA, which matters to an audit-facing controller
  • More than 350 integrations, so payroll, billing and spend tools can feed the ledger

Cons

  • Sage's US pricing page routes every buyer to a quote, so the budget cannot be set before a sales call
  • Finance-only scope: inventory and order management live in another system
2 NetSuite logo

NetSuite

The full cloud ERP to price first when operations, not only finance, outgrew the ledger.

Pricing
Quote only; the pricing page routes to a Get Pricing form

Best for: Companies whose inventory, orders or projects must post with the close

Pros

  • Financials, inventory across locations and order management run in one unified suite, so operations data needs no nightly export
  • OneWorld handles subsidiaries, currencies and tax rules with real-time consolidation
  • Used by more than 44,000 customers, per NetSuite's own site, so partners and experienced hires are easy to find

Cons

  • No list price for license or implementation, so the first-year total is a negotiation
  • A heavier project than any other pick here for a company that only needed more users
3 Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central logo

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

A mid-market ERP with a printed rate, covering finance, sales and operations, with Copilot included.

Pricing
Essentials $80/user/mo; Premium $110/user/mo; Team Members $8/user/mo, all paid yearly

Best for: Growing companies that want a full ERP with a seat price they can budget before the first call

Pros

  • Essentials covers finance, sales and operations for one published per-user rate, read October 2026
  • Team Members seats at $8 a month let approvers and occasional users in without a full license
  • Premium adds service management and manufacturing when operations grow

Cons

  • Per-user pricing adds up: 30 Essentials users cost $28,800 a year before a partner implementation
  • Copilot Credits beyond the included features are billed separately, pay as you go or prepaid
4 Acumatica logo

Acumatica

A cloud ERP that drops seat fees and prices on the applications and transaction volume you run.

Pricing
Quote; priced on applications, usage and resources, and license type, with unlimited users

Best for: Distribution, construction and field teams with many occasional users

Pros

  • Unlimited users, so warehouse staff and approvers do not each need a paid seat
  • Applications are integrated and can be added at any time as the company grows
  • Industry pricing calculators bundle support and implementation into the package

Cons

  • No printed figure: the price depends on applications, expected volume and deployment
  • Resource levels and storage are adjusted as transactions grow, so a fast-growing company should model year two
5 Rillet logo

Rillet

An AI-native ERP for a multi-entity software company that wants a continuous close.

Pricing
Quote only through Rillet's sales team

Best for: Venture-backed SaaS companies with several entities and ASC 606 revenue

Pros

  • Consolidates entities automatically, including intercompany eliminations and FX revaluation
  • Applies ASC 606 directly from contracts, so revenue schedules leave the spreadsheet
  • Native integrations with Rippling, Stripe, Salesforce, HubSpot, Avalara and Ramp

Cons

  • No published price, so it cannot be set beside QuickBooks without a sales call
  • Finance-only, with no inventory or order management
6 Odoo logo

Odoo

An all-apps business suite whose accounting app replaces QuickBooks and whose other apps replace the add-ons.

Pricing
Standard $31.10/user/mo yearly; Custom $61/user/mo yearly for multi-company; one app free

Best for: Companies that want accounting, inventory, CRM and projects in one suite at a printed rate

Pros

  • Standard includes all apps for one per-user price, with hosting, support and upgrades in the plan
  • Portal users such as customers and suppliers are not paying users
  • One app is free for unlimited users, so a single-function trial costs nothing

Cons

  • Multi-company, Studio customization and the external API need the Custom plan, about double Standard
  • Odoo.sh hosting for custom developments and maintenance of custom code are not included in the plans
7 Xero logo

Xero

A lateral move that removes seat costs, with multi-currency and projects on the top plan.

Pricing
Established $97/mo; Growing $59/mo; Early $27/mo; no per-user license fees

Best for: Single-entity companies that only hit QuickBooks Online's user limits

Pros

  • No per-user license fees on any plan, so the 26th user costs nothing extra
  • Established adds multiple currencies, project time and cost tracking, and expense claims
  • A 180-day cash flow forecast and KPI analysis on Established

Cons

  • Still a small-business ledger: no consolidation of several entities inside one organization
  • Early caps sending at 20 invoices and 5 bills, so growing teams start on Growing or above
8 Zoho Books logo

Zoho Books

An organization-priced ledger with user allowances per plan and cheap extra seats.

Pricing
From $15/org/mo yearly (Standard); Ultimate $240/org/mo yearly with 15 users

Best for: Price-sensitive companies already on Zoho apps that need more users than QuickBooks Plus

Pros

  • Ultimate includes 15 users and advanced analytics for one organization price
  • Extra users cost $2.5 a user a month on yearly billing
  • Multi-currency transactions start on Professional

Cons

  • User allowances cap below Advanced's 25 unless you buy add-on seats
  • A small-business ledger without multi-entity consolidation, so it delays rather than ends the ERP question
9 Digits logo

Digits

An AI-native ledger that books and reconciles continuously, priced per business with no seat fees.

Pricing
Essentials $65/mo; Core $100/mo; priced per business, not per user; US entities only

Best for: US startups that want an AI-run ledger with department and location tracking

Pros

  • Priced per business, not per user, so the whole team can work in it
  • Core adds dimensional accounting by department and location, plus automated schedules
  • Developer API and MCP access on every plan, plus a 30-day free trial

Cons

  • Each business or location needs its own subscription, so a multi-entity group pays per entity
  • Budget vs. actuals sits only on Pro, which was still marked coming soon in October 2026

What it is

A QuickBooks alternative, for a growing company, is an accounting system that keeps the general ledger, payables, receivables and reporting QuickBooks Online covers, then removes the limit that forced the search. The finance-first systems (Sage Intacct, Rillet, Digits) add entities, dimensions and close automation. The ERPs (NetSuite, Business Central, Acumatica, Odoo) put inventory, orders and projects in the same database. The lateral moves (Xero, Zoho Books) keep a small-business ledger but change the seat math.

Why it matters

The QuickBooks Online ladder tops out quickly. On Intuit's pricing page, Simple Start includes 1 user, Essentials 3, Plus 5 and Advanced 25, at $38, $85, $140 and $340 a month, read on October 21, 2026. A company that adds its 26th user, or a second legal entity it wants consolidated, has nowhere higher to go inside QuickBooks Online. Advanced is the ceiling, and $4,080 a year for 25 users is cheap next to anything on this page that sells by quote.

That price gap is the real decision. Moving to Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Acumatica or Rillet means a quote, an implementation partner or project, and a parallel close, so the license is only part of the first-year bill. Moving to Business Central or Odoo trades a quote for a printed per-user rate, while Xero, Zoho Books and Digits keep the bill in the low thousands. Read our QuickBooks vs NetSuite comparison if operations are the trigger, and the multi-entity accounting ranking if entities are.

Migration is where growing companies lose a quarter. Export the chart of accounts with every class and location, open AR and AP, fixed assets, and at least two years of trial balances before the cutover, then run QuickBooks and the new ledger side by side for one month-end close. Map QuickBooks classes and locations to the new system's dimensions on paper first, or the board pack loses its year-over-year comparisons.

Key features to look for

Published price
Business Central, Odoo, Xero, Zoho Books and Digits print a USD price. Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Acumatica and Rillet sell by quote.
Seat model
Business Central and Odoo charge per user. Xero charges per organization with no per-user fee, Digits per business, Zoho Books per organization with a user allowance, and Acumatica on applications and usage rather than seats.
Entities and consolidation
Sage Intacct and Rillet consolidate entities with eliminations in one system. Odoo needs its Custom plan for multi-company, and Digits needs one subscription per business.
Operations in the ledger
NetSuite, Business Central, Acumatica and Odoo carry inventory, orders and projects. Sage Intacct, Rillet and Digits stay finance-only.
Dimensions for reporting
Sage Intacct and Rillet report by entity and dimension. Digits adds department and location tracking from its Core plan, and Xero Established adds project tracking.

Pricing

QuickBooks Online Advanced, the 25-user top plan on Intuit's pricing page, is the bill every alternative is measured against.

Business Central prints Essentials, Premium and Team Members per user paid yearly, Odoo prints Standard and Custom per user, Xero and Zoho Books print organization plans, and Digits prints per-business plans.

Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Acumatica and Rillet sell by quote.

Our arithmetic for a 30-person single-entity company for one year, license only, on list prices read October 21, 2026: Business Central $11,520 with 10 Essentials users and 20 Team Members (or $28,800 with 30 full users), Odoo Standard $11,196, Zoho Books Ultimate $3,330 including 15 add-on users, Xero Established $1,164 and Digits Core $1,200.

QuickBooks Online Advanced cannot hold 30 users on one subscription. Odoo and Business Central figures use yearly billing; Xero and Digits use the printed monthly price times 12.

Intuit, Xero and Odoo were all showing introductory discounts in October 2026. The figures above use the regular list price, because the discount ends and the renewal is the number you live with.

Mistakes to avoid
×Buying an ERP to fix a seat problem: if the only trigger is the 25-user ceiling, Xero or Zoho Books fixes it for a fraction of an ERP's first-year cost.
×Signing a quote-only contract without a written module and implementation list, which turns a known QuickBooks bill into an open-ended one.
×Leaving QuickBooks classes and locations unmapped, so the first board pack on the new system has no comparable prior year.
Expert tips
→Name the trigger before the shortlist: users, entities, inventory or reporting dimensions each point to different picks on this page.
→Ask every quote-only vendor for a three-year total including implementation, then set it beside Business Central's or Odoo's printed rate times your seat count.
→Cut over at a quarter or year end and run QuickBooks in parallel for one close, reconciling the trial balance before you cancel.

The bottom line

Sage Intacct is the move for a finance team whose problem is entities, consolidation and board reporting, and NetSuite is the move when operations outgrew the ledger too. Business Central and Odoo give the same ERP scope with a price you can read before the call, Acumatica suits operations teams with many light users, and Rillet fits a multi-entity SaaS company. If the only limit was seats, Xero, Zoho Books or Digits solve it without an ERP project.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best QuickBooks alternative for a growing company in 2026?

Sage Intacct for a finance team with several entities and dimensional reporting, NetSuite when inventory and orders must post with the close, and Business Central for a full ERP at a printed $80 a user a month on Essentials, paid yearly. If the only limit is users, Xero Established, which charges no per-user fee, is the cheaper fix. Prices were read on vendor pages on October 21, 2026.

When has a company outgrown QuickBooks Online?

The clearest signals are a 26th user, since Advanced, the top plan at $340 a month, includes 25; a second legal entity you need consolidated with eliminations; inventory or orders that must post with the close; and a board that wants reporting by department, location or project across entities. One signal can be fixed with a lateral move; two or more usually justify an ERP or a finance-first system like Sage Intacct.

Is NetSuite or Sage Intacct better for a company leaving QuickBooks?

Sage Intacct fits a company whose complexity is financial: several entities, consolidation, dimensions and audit-ready reporting, with more than 350 integrations. NetSuite fits a company whose complexity is operational, with inventory, orders and CRM in the same database as the ledger. Both sell by quote, so compare a three-year total including implementation. Our NetSuite vs Sage Intacct page covers the head-to-head.

Which QuickBooks alternatives publish their prices?

Business Central (three per-user rates, paid yearly), Odoo ($31.10 a user a month on Standard, billed yearly), Xero ($27, $59 and $97 a month), Zoho Books (from $15 an organization a month, billed yearly) and Digits ($65 and $100 a month per business) all print prices. Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Acumatica and Rillet sell by quote.

What is the cheapest way to get past QuickBooks Online's user limit?

Xero, because no plan charges per user: Established covers the whole team for about $1,164 a year by our arithmetic. Zoho Books Ultimate includes 15 users and sells extra seats at $2.5 a month each on yearly billing. Both remain single-entity small-business ledgers, so a company that also needs consolidation should look at Sage Intacct or Rillet instead.

How long does it take to move off QuickBooks?

Plan for at least one full month-end close in parallel, whichever system you pick. The work is exporting the chart of accounts, open receivables and payables, fixed assets and two years of trial balances, then mapping QuickBooks classes and locations to the new dimensions. Quote-based ERPs add an implementation project on top, so ask for the partner's timeline in writing with the quote.
