TL;DR

Short answer: Acumatica Manufacturing Edition is the best ERP for most small and mid-size manufacturers in 2026, because it covers make-to-order through repetitive production and does not charge per user. Business Central Premium is the pick when you need a printed price: $110 a user a month, paid yearly. NetSuite fits multi-entity groups, Odoo is the cheapest full suite, and MRPeasy is the best fit for a shop under about 20 people. Prices checked on vendor pages on 21 October 2026.

Four of the nine systems print no price at all, and Katana prints only its free tier. The others print very different units: per user, per 10-user bundle or a monthly starting figure. The pricing section below puts the printed ones on the same 10-user basis.

  • Updated: November 7, 2026
  • Top pick: Acumatica Manufacturing Edition (best for: Mid-size manufacturers with many shop-floor users and mixed production modes)
  • Top pick price as of November 7, 2026: Acumatica Manufacturing Edition: Quote-only; priced by applications, resources and deployment, with unlimited users
  • 9 tools compared: Acumatica Manufacturing Edition, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Premium, Oracle NetSuite, Epicor Kinetic, Odoo (Manufacturing app), SAP Business One, MRPeasy, Fishbowl Advanced Manufacturing, Katana
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Premium (best for: Single-plant manufacturers in Microsoft 365 that want a price they can multiply before talking to sales): $110 a user a month, paid yearly; Team Members $8; 30-day free trial
  • Oracle NetSuite (best for: Manufacturing groups with several entities, currencies or a plan to add them): Quote-only annual license: core platform, modules and users; no on-premise option
  • Epicor Kinetic (best for: Make-to-order and engineer-to-order manufacturers that want an ERP built for production first): Quote-only; Operations and Financials cores plus a cloud package and concurrent users

A manufacturer outgrows QuickBooks and spreadsheets at a predictable moment: when a bill of materials, a work order and the inventory it consumes have to post to the ledger without someone rekeying them. From that point the question is not which accounting tool, but which system runs production and finance in one database, and how much of its price you can see before a sales call.

This list covers mid-market ERPs with manufacturing built in (Acumatica, Business Central, NetSuite, Epicor Kinetic, SAP Business One, Odoo) and three MRP-first systems that smaller makers often choose instead (MRPeasy, Fishbowl, Katana). It ranks them for a company of roughly 10 to 200 people that makes, assembles or mixes physical products.

1 Acumatica Manufacturing Edition logo
Top Pick

Acumatica Manufacturing Edition

The best overall fit: broad production coverage and no per-seat bill when operators need logins.

Pricing
Quote-only; priced by applications, resources and deployment, with unlimited users

Best for: Mid-size manufacturers with many shop-floor users and mixed production modes

Pros

  • Covers make-to-stock, make-to-order, engineer-to-order, configure-to-order, job shop, batch and repetitive production
  • Pricing is set by applications, transaction resources and deployment, not user seats, so adding operators does not raise the bill
  • Tracks actual versus standard labor, material, machine and overhead costs per production order

Cons

  • Acumatica prints no price; the number comes from a partner after a pricing review
  • Resource levels rise with transaction volume, so growth raises the price even without new users
2 Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Premium logo

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Premium

The only full manufacturing ERP here with a printed per-user price.

Pricing
$110 a user a month, paid yearly; Team Members $8; 30-day free trial

Best for: Single-plant manufacturers in Microsoft 365 that want a price they can multiply before talking to sales

Pros

  • Premium adds manufacturing and service management to everything in Essentials
  • Team Members licenses at $8 a user a month cover read access, approvals and limited updates
  • Copilot is included, with Copilot Credits for agents sold pay-as-you-go

Cons

  • Every full user pays the Premium rate, so a large shop floor gets expensive fast
  • Implementation cost is not on the pricing page, so budget it separately
3 Oracle NetSuite logo

Oracle NetSuite

The pick when consolidation and growth matter more than shop-floor depth per dollar.

Pricing
Quote-only annual license: core platform, modules and users; no on-premise option

Best for: Manufacturing groups with several entities, currencies or a plan to add them

Pros

  • Work orders, work order console for floor data such as scrap, downtime and labor, and quality management in one cloud database
  • Multi-tenant cloud with two updates a year handled by Oracle
  • Modules such as manufacturing, demand planning and WMS can be added during the contract

Cons

  • No public price; every module adds to the annual fee
  • NetSuite's own guide says manufacturing implementations cost considerably more than a financials-only build
4 Epicor Kinetic logo

Epicor Kinetic

The deepest manufacturing core on this list, sold as bundles with concurrent licensing.

Pricing
Quote-only; Operations and Financials cores plus a cloud package and concurrent users

Best for: Make-to-order and engineer-to-order manufacturers that want an ERP built for production first

Pros

  • Operations Core includes production, scheduling, MRP, job management, quality assurance and estimate and quote management
  • Concurrent user licenses: when one user logs off another can log in, which suits shift work
  • Advanced Manufacturing bundle adds advanced planning and scheduling and planning by revision

Cons

  • Epicor prints no price; you choose a core, a cloud package and a user count, then get a quote
  • Cloud Select includes bi-annual upgrades, so plan testing time twice a year
5 Odoo (Manufacturing app) logo

Odoo (Manufacturing app)

The cheapest full suite with manufacturing included, if you can manage the implementation.

Pricing
Standard $31.10 a user a month, Custom $61, yearly billing; first-year discount for initial users

Best for: Cost-conscious manufacturers that want MRP, PLM, quality and maintenance in one cheap suite

Pros

  • Standard includes all apps, among them Manufacturing, PLM, Quality and Maintenance
  • Shop-floor employees can use the Manufacturing shop floor as light users, listed at $8.90, rather than full paid users
  • Custom adds multi-company, on-premise or Odoo.sh hosting, Studio and the external API

Cons

  • The first-year discount ends after 12 months and applies only to initial users
  • Odoo's configurator prices its smallest Success Pack implementation at $3,060, and larger projects go to a partner
6 SAP Business One logo

SAP Business One

A long-standing SMB ERP for light manufacturing, sold and run through partners.

Pricing
Quote-only; named user licenses priced by an SAP partner

Best for: Light manufacturers and distributors that want on-premise or partner hosting

Pros

  • SAP names light manufacturing and wholesale distribution among its core customer groups, with more than 85,000 customers
  • Cloud, on-premise or mobile deployment, on SAP HANA or Microsoft SQL Server
  • Named user licenses work across company databases

Cons

  • No public price; a partner sets license, services and support terms
  • SAP describes its manufacturing fit as light manufacturing, so complex make-to-order shops should compare Acumatica or Epicor first
7 MRPeasy logo

MRPeasy

The best-value MRP for small shops, with a printed price and a bundle rate past 10 users.

Pricing
$49 to $149 a user a month; users 11 onward $79 per 10; 1 month free on yearly billing

Best for: Small manufacturers moving production planning off spreadsheets

Pros

  • Lot traceability, BOMs, drag-and-drop rescheduling and standard accounting on every plan
  • Enterprise adds master production schedule, multiple sites, barcodes and maintenance at $99 a user
  • Users beyond 10 cost $79 per block of 10, so a 20-user Enterprise team pays $1,069 a month

Cons

  • Standard accounting only; most finance teams keep QuickBooks or Xero beside it
  • Product configurator, serial numbers and quality control start at Professional, not Starter
8 Fishbowl Advanced Manufacturing logo

Fishbowl Advanced Manufacturing

Manufacturing on top of QuickBooks, with a published starting price.

Pricing
From $675 a month, quoted by users and deployment; cloud hosting included

Best for: QuickBooks shops that need BOMs, MRP and lot tracking without leaving QuickBooks

Pros

  • Full BOMs, sub-assemblies, MRP, work orders and made-to-order builds
  • Deep QuickBooks Online, Desktop and Enterprise integration
  • Teams from 2 to 200+ users, with cloud or self-managed deployment

Cons

  • The $675 figure is a starting price; the final number is a quote
  • Fishbowl Inventory plans exclude manufacturing entirely, so the cheaper tiers do not apply
9 Katana logo

Katana

A free starting point for very small catalogs, then a fully scoped annual contract.

Pricing
Free up to 30 SKUs; Advantage is custom-priced on one annual contract

Best for: Direct-to-consumer makers with a small catalog selling through Shopify and other channels

Pros

  • Free plan includes all features, unlimited users, integrations and locations, up to 30 SKUs
  • Advantage bundles subscription, custom build, a Customer Success Manager and 24/7 support in one price
  • Katana says most teams are running within weeks

Cons

  • No self-serve paid tier: past 30 SKUs you need a scoped quote
  • Inventory and production planning first; accounting stays in a separate system

What it is

A manufacturing ERP is software that runs bills of materials, production orders, material requirements planning (MRP), inventory, purchasing and the general ledger in one system, so a finished job updates stock, cost and the books at the same time. An MRP-only tool plans and tracks production but leaves accounting to QuickBooks or Xero.

Why it matters

CFOpresso data: in Toolradar's Inventory Management category of 177 tools, NetSuite is listed as an alternative to 75 other tools (#1) and SAP Business One to 57 (#2), as of October 2026. Toolradar is the software directory we run. Those two are the systems buyers cross-shop most, and both are quote-only, which is why a manufacturer's ERP search so often stalls at the pricing step.

The licensing model matters as much as the list price on a shop floor. A plant with 10 planners and 40 operators who only clock jobs pays very differently under per-user pricing (Business Central, MRPeasy), unlimited-user pricing (Acumatica), concurrent users (Epicor) or a light-user rate (Odoo). Count who needs a full login before you compare quotes.

Key features to look for

Production modes you actually runEssential
Make-to-stock, make-to-order, engineer-to-order, job shop, batch or repetitive. Acumatica and Epicor cover the full range; MRP-first tools fit simpler discrete production.
MRP and schedulingEssential
Time-phased material plans tied to demand, plus finite or drag-and-drop scheduling of machines and labor. Without it, the ERP is a ledger with a stock list.
Job and work-in-process costingEssential
Actual versus standard labor, material and overhead per work order, posted to the ledger. This is what lets a controller close the month without a costing spreadsheet.
Lot and serial traceability
Required for food, chemicals, medical and anything with recall exposure. Check which tier includes it: Fishbowl puts lot tracking in Scale and Advanced, MRPeasy in every plan.
Licensing that fits the shop floor
Per named user, per concurrent user, unlimited users or light users. The cheapest-looking per-user price can be the most expensive once operators need logins.

Pricing

Only four of the nine systems print a figure. Business Central prints Premium and Team Members per user paid yearly; Odoo prints Standard and Custom per user, with a first-year discount for initial users; MRPeasy prints four per-user tiers with a 10-user bundle rate; Fishbowl prints a starting price for Advanced Manufacturing. Katana prints a free tier only. Acumatica, NetSuite, Epicor and SAP Business One are quote-only. For a 10-user shop on printed prices, Odoo Standard comes to $3,732 a year on yearly billing, MRPeasy Enterprise to $10,890 with its free month on yearly billing, and Business Central Premium to $13,200 (our arithmetic). Implementation is extra everywhere, and only Odoo prints a services price.

Mistakes to avoid
×Comparing per-user prices without counting users. A 10-person office with 40 operators clocking jobs costs very differently on Business Central, MRPeasy, Acumatica and Odoo; list who needs a full login, a light login or none.
×Buying Fishbowl Inventory for a plant. Fishbowl's own pricing page says its Inventory plans exclude BOMs, work orders and MRP; manufacturing is the separate Advanced platform.
×Budgeting the first year of Odoo as the steady state. The first-year discount covers 12 months and only the initial users, so year two is priced at the regular rate.
Expert tips
→Ask every quote-only vendor for the same three-year price in writing: users by type, modules, hosting, support and the yearly increase.
→Run one real job through each demo, from quote to shipped order to posted cost, before you compare prices.
→If you have more than one legal entity today or within two years, put NetSuite or Acumatica on the shortlist before the MRP-first tools.

The bottom line

Acumatica Manufacturing Edition is the default pick for a mid-size manufacturer, because it covers every common production mode and does not charge per user. Business Central Premium wins when you need a price before the first call, and NetSuite when you run, or will run, several entities; our NetSuite vs Business Central, NetSuite vs Acumatica and Acumatica vs Business Central comparisons go deeper, and NetSuite vs SAP Business One covers the partner-led route.

For smaller shops, MRPeasy gives the most production per dollar with a printed price, Odoo is the cheapest full suite (see Odoo pricing), and Katana is free while the catalog stays under 30 products. Budget the project as well as the license: what a NetSuite implementation costs shows how fast services add up, and free ERP software lists the no-license options. Our NetSuite alternatives page covers the same field for finance-led buyers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best ERP for a small or mid-size manufacturer in 2026?

Acumatica Manufacturing Edition for most mid-size manufacturers, because it covers make-to-order, engineer-to-order, job shop, batch and repetitive production with unlimited users. Business Central Premium is the pick if you need a printed per-user price, and MRPeasy fits shops under about 20 people.

How much does a manufacturing ERP cost?

Printed prices run from free (Katana up to 30 SKUs) to $31.10 a user a month for Odoo Standard on yearly billing, $49 to $149 a user a month for MRPeasy, $110 for Business Central Premium and from $675 a month for Fishbowl Advanced Manufacturing. Acumatica, NetSuite, Epicor Kinetic and SAP Business One are quote-only, and implementation is extra on all of them.

What is the cheapest ERP for manufacturing?

Odoo Standard, which includes the Manufacturing, PLM, Quality and Maintenance apps at $31.10 a user a month on yearly billing, with a first-year discount for initial users. For 10 users that is $3,732 a year at the regular rate. Katana is free but only up to 30 SKUs.

Is MRP software the same as ERP?

No. MRP software such as MRPeasy, Katana or Fishbowl plans production, materials and inventory, and usually syncs with QuickBooks or Xero for accounting. A manufacturing ERP such as Acumatica, Business Central or NetSuite runs production and the general ledger in one database, so job costs post to the books directly.

Which manufacturing ERP does not charge per user?

Acumatica prices by applications, transaction resources and deployment rather than user seats. Epicor Kinetic sells concurrent users, so licenses are shared across shifts, and Odoo lets shop-floor employees work as light users. Business Central and MRPeasy charge per named user.

Does NetSuite work for manufacturers?

Yes. NetSuite offers work orders, a work order console for recording scrap, downtime and labor, quality management, demand planning and WMS as modules on its annual license. Its own implementation guide says manufacturing projects cost considerably more than financials-only builds, and NetSuite publishes no price.
