  • 4 options compared: NetSuite, Odoo Standard, Odoo Custom, One App Free
  • NetSuite (best for: Subsidiaries, currencies and orders in one Oracle cloud database): No published list price. Annual quote, plus a one-time implementation fee
  • Odoo Standard (best for: One company that wants every app on a per-user plan): Confirm current U.S. rate
  • Odoo Custom (best for: A second company, Studio, custom modules, or an outside system calling Odoo): Confirm current U.S. rate
  • One App Free (best for: Accounting alone, with unlimited users, until a second app is installed): $0

Odoo offers Standard and Custom subscriptions with per-user pricing; NetSuite's annual license depends on the core platform, modules and users, plus a one-time implementation fee. For a U.S. budget, obtain current written terms for both products. We could not independently confirm Odoo's U.S. dollar checkout prices for seats, implementation packs or Odoo.sh hosting on October 28, 2026.

Odoo's plan and deployment descriptions are on its pricing page, configurator and success pack page. NetSuite's license structure is on its ERP page, and its implementation estimates are on its cost article.

Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 285 accounting tools as of October 27, 2026. Odoo is the most cross-shopped name in that set, listed as an alternative to 106 other tools, and it drew 366 side-by-side comparisons in the 90 days to October 2026. The ranking is accounting software, and the product pages are Odoo and NetSuite.

Option Best for Starting price Where it runs
NetSuite Subsidiaries, currencies and orders in one Oracle cloud database No published list price. Annual quote, plus a one-time implementation fee Oracle cloud, one data center in a region you choose
Odoo Standard One company that wants every app on a per-user plan Confirm current U.S. rate Odoo Online only
Odoo Custom A second company, Studio, custom modules, or an outside system calling Odoo Confirm current U.S. rate Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, or your own servers
One App Free Accounting alone, with unlimited users, until a second app is installed $0 Odoo Online

An ERP, for this audience, is the database that posts the ledger the board signs and the operational documents that feed it. Here the choice is which user mix, second company or custom module changes the plan, and what implementation and hosting add to the subscription. A team that already needs a second entity should check Custom's scope.

The product reviews are the Odoo review and the NetSuite review. This page is only the budget, the hosting choice and the implementation shape.

What the Odoo rate actually covers

Odoo describes an introductory discount lasting 12 months for the users initially ordered. Request current U.S. first-year, additional-user and renewal prices in writing, because displayed prices and contract terms can change.

A paying user is a backend login or an employee record. Odoo counts anyone who creates, views or edits backend documents, and any HR employee record with no linked user. Portal customers, suppliers and website buyers are free. Active employee records without an active non-portal user can qualify as Light Users, so confirm the full and light seat mix rather than treating every employee as a full user.

Odoo describes a Light User for an employee's own time off, expenses, appraisals, attendance, referrals, planning, field service, barcode work and read-only Knowledge. As an employee record, that seat can open payslips, the point of sale and the shop floor. Odoo asks buyers to meet an advisor for a customized quote; confirm eligibility, U.S. pricing and billing before including Light Users in a budget.

One App Free is $0 for one app and unlimited users on Odoo Online, with no end date, and a second independent app leaves that plan. Dependencies stay free: Odoo's example is eCommerce, which brings Website and Invoicing, while another independent app moves every user onto Standard. The free plan can hold several companies, and Studio can be the single free app, but once other apps are installed, adding Studio or companies switches the database to Custom. Start on free Accounting only if Inventory and a second entity are not already planned, and other no-charge suites are in free ERP software.

Compare monthly and yearly billing with the current U.S. quote. Ask how the initial offer, additional seats and renewal prices apply before choosing a commitment.

Deployment is the line that changes the plan

Standard cannot leave Odoo Online, and that cloud is included: backups on two continents, email, 24/7 monitoring, a control center, and storage Odoo calls unmetered up to 100GB. Studio, an external API, agentic AI, or a custom module requires Custom. Odoo Online hosting remains included on Custom, while Odoo.sh hosting costs extra.

Custom has three homes, and only Online is included in the seat. Odoo.sh, for development, staging and production branches, is an extra bill. The third option is to download Odoo Enterprise and host it yourself.

Odoo says the software is the same and the infrastructure changes: email, backups and redundancy. Cloud upgrades are included, while an on-premise database has to sit on the latest stable release, so the company owns the upgrade work.

Odoo.sh is priced separately from the subscription. The configurator recommends an additional worker per 25 backend users and per 5,000 daily frontend visitors, and suggests storage of 1 GB per user. Workload and visitors affect sizing. Request current U.S. worker, storage, staging and any dedicated-server prices, and confirm whether the amounts are monthly or billed annually.

NetSuite's pages describe a cloud subscription, not a file you install. The OneWorld page says accounts sit in one data center in a region you choose, so put that region in the order form when a contract names one, and confirm any relocation requirements with the vendor. There is no printed on-premise license beside Odoo's download, so a company that must keep the database in its own facility is pricing Odoo Custom, self-hosted, against a NetSuite quote that does not show that shape.

Odoo includes weekday email support, 24 hours a day, Monday to Friday, in English, French, Spanish or Dutch, plus eLearning and cloud upgrades, and a Saturday close has no person on that line. Custom-code maintenance is excluded, and so are credits for SMS, contact autocomplete, lead generation, and the AI that scans vendor bills. Accounts payable that expected the scanner inside the seat price will see a second invoice.

The ledger, the second company, and the quote

NetSuite names the standards a US auditor asks about, and prices the machinery as modules. Its financial management page lists the general ledger, payables, receivables, tax, fixed assets, cash, subscription billing, planning, and revenue recognition under ASC 606 and IFRS 15. Consolidation sits on that page too, and the order form is where you learn which of those names were included.

OneWorld is still an add-on: more than 190 currencies, 27 languages, multi-book accounting, and SuiteTax for more than 110 countries. A core-only order form does not include that module, so adding a subsidiary later means buying that add-on on top.

NetSuite's cost article says the jump from one subsidiary to six or more can multiply project cost by roughly an order of magnitude, a larger swing than adding users. It also says a subscription business commonly pays about 60% more than a financials-only build once Advanced Revenue Management is in scope. Put subsidiaries, years of history and that module in the quote request before anyone ranks two proposals.

Odoo's accounting page describes a country ledger, and it does not name ASC 606 or IFRS 15. It ships a local chart, taxes, country reports, e-invoicing, audit files and fiscal positions, and it can defer revenue and expense on an invoice, which covers a simple deferral. Bank sync is listed at 28,000 banks, and Odoo says 95% of transactions match on their own, which is its figure. If contracts have performance obligations, ask where the ASC 606 schedule lives.

The API line is the one finance teams miss. An external API means another system calling Odoo. Calls initiated by Odoo, including its examples of payment providers and bank synchronization, are not considered an external API for this purpose. A billing engine or a data warehouse that reaches into Odoo is Custom, for every user, so one inbound integration reprices the whole company.

Other multi-entity ledgers are in accounting software for multi-entity businesses. If the pain is dimensions on one database, read NetSuite vs Sage Intacct and the Sage Intacct review.

Oracle's license types are the NetSuite version of a light seat, with no printed rate. Full users get broad roles, Employee Center covers timesheets, expenses and pay slips, and specialized users cover limited roles such as CRM, project manager or warehouse. SuiteCloud Plus can increase account-level concurrent web-services capacity; the license requirements depend on the integration and authentication method. Confirm the scope with Oracle. A quote that prices every employee as a full user is a different scope from one that splits Employee Center the way Odoo splits a Light User, and the proposals stay incomparable until the user-type mix matches.

Implementation: a price list versus shares of an unknown budget

Odoo offers its own service packs. It says companies with fewer than 50 employees usually work directly with Odoo and those above 50 usually use a local partner; it asks companies over 250 to contact Odoo. These are recommendations, not confirmed eligibility cutoffs. Ask for an applicable quote.

A pack is consultant hours for configuration, training, data import and, on the larger packs, customization. The configurator says the hours expire after one year, so a pack bought early can lapse before go-live. The success pack page describes the available packages; confirm current U.S. prices directly with Odoo.

Pack Consultant hours What to confirm
Starter 4 Scope, eligibility and current U.S. price
Basic 25 Scope, eligibility and current U.S. price
Standard 50 Data import and customization needs
Custom 100 Customization and development scope
Pro 200 Dedicated consultant and project scope

Odoo describes a 15% new-customer discount for the first pack only; confirm whether it applies to your U.S. order. Odoo says 80% of projects in the estimator's scope reach production in 200 hours or less. The configurator recommended 25 hours on a one-user view, which is only a starting point. Scope the chart of accounts, bank feeds and approval flow with an implementation advisor before choosing a pack.

NetSuite prints the shape of the services budget and none of the dollars. SuiteSuccess is a set of industry editions, including Financials, Starter, Software, Manufacturing and Wholesale Distribution, sold as fixed-fee packages. The fee is not on the page, so the package name is still a quote. The cost article splits a typical services budget this way:

Phase Share NetSuite states Time window on that page
Discovery and design, usually combined 15% to 20% 3 to 5 weeks
Configuration and build about 30% to 35% 5 to 8 weeks
Data migration, in parallel 15% to 20% Runs with the build
Integrations, on top 10% to 20% Separate from the build share
User testing and training 10% to 15% 3 to 5 weeks
Go-live and the weeks after 5% to 10% 2 to 4 weeks

NetSuite's cost article offers 10% to 20% of annual license as a standard-support planning estimate and up to 30% for premium or managed support, not a contract price. Its separate support page says Basic Support is included in every subscription. Confirm any additional support and custom-code maintenance in the quote. NetSuite's 1% of operating budget benchmark is a rule of thumb, not a fee.

The vendor estimates 8 to 14 weeks for a simple single-entity project, 4 to 11 months for a moderately complex midmarket project, and 9 to 18 months for a global rollout. The longer reading is what a NetSuite implementation costs. Refuse a proposal that hides subsidiaries, years of history and the revenue module inside one blended fee.

A 20-user company: build a comparable budget

The illustration is a company with 20 full backend users: one entity on Odoo Standard or two on Custom, using Odoo Online. Ask both vendors to price that same user and entity scope, with the relevant modules, support and implementation. Confirm the full and Light User mix before multiplying a per-user rate.

Budget line What to request
Year-one subscription Number and type of users, current U.S. rate, billing frequency and any introductory discount
Later years Renewal rate, discount expiry, additional-seat pricing and contract term
Implementation Scope, consultant hours, one-time charges, travel and any partner fees
Hosting Odoo Online, Odoo.sh workers, staging and storage, or your own infrastructure
Other costs Taxes, in-app credits, integrations, custom-code maintenance and support

For each proposal, multiply the applicable confirmed user rate by the number of users and billing periods; add implementation, hosting and the other quoted costs. Repeat using the written renewal terms for later years. A 25-hour pack is not evidence that a 20-user project can be implemented in 25 hours. Scope the work before choosing one.

A comparable NetSuite quote needs the same user-type split, entities, revenue module, implementation fee and support tier. A plan description cannot establish which product costs less without matching quotations. License detail is in NetSuite pricing and the Odoo review.

Who should sign which order

Sign Odoo Standard when there is one entity, no outside system will call Odoo, and the board wants a per-user plan it can audit. Keep yearly billing if headcount is stable, and put the renewal rate in the three-year plan on day one. Compare Odoo's pack offer and a partner quote for the actual scope; the company-size guidance is a recommendation, not proof of eligibility.

Sign Odoo Custom when a second company, Studio or an inbound integration is already in the design. Stay on Odoo Online if you can live without custom modules, because that choice keeps hosting inside the seat. Use Odoo.sh if developers will ship modules, and put workers and staging in the same model as the seats. How another suite meters users is the Acumatica review and NetSuite vs Acumatica.

Sign NetSuite when orders, inventory and the journal should share Oracle's cloud, or the group needs OneWorld's currencies, languages, books and local tax. Keep SuiteSuccess only if the work fits an industry edition. Write OneWorld, Advanced Revenue Management, the user-type mix and the implementation fee into year one.

Basic Support is included in NetSuite subscriptions; a team without an administrator should obtain a quote for any additional ongoing support it needs. The directory side-by-side is NetSuite vs Odoo on Toolradar.

Skip both if you still have one entity, no warehouse and no performance-obligation problem. QuickBooks vs NetSuite is the outgrowing path, and best accounting software is the wider shortlist. A Microsoft stack with a printed seat is the Business Central review and Business Central pricing. A manufacturer should confirm inventory and production requirements before buying a finance-only scope.

How we compared

We read Odoo's pricing page, configurator, success pack page and accounting app page, and NetSuite's ERP, financial management, OneWorld and SuiteSuccess pages, its implementation article, and Oracle's user-license overview, on October 28, 2026. The 285-tool count, the 106 alternatives and the 366 comparisons are Toolradar's accounting ranking as of October 27, 2026. We could not independently confirm U.S. checkout prices for Odoo seats, packs or Odoo.sh, so the 20-user section is a quote checklist rather than a dollar total. The CFOpresso editorial team prepared the comparison. Re-check both orders against the same entities, user types and modules before anyone signs.

FAQ

Which is the better ERP in 2026, NetSuite or Odoo?

Odoo may fit a team that wants a per-user plan and implementation help. NetSuite may fit a group that needs subsidiaries, currencies and one cloud database for orders and the ledger. Compare written U.S. quotes for the same entities, users and modules before deciding which costs less.

How much do NetSuite and Odoo cost in a year?

Ask Odoo for current U.S. Standard or Custom rates, the user mix, introductory offer and renewal terms. Odoo.sh and implementation packs cost extra, and their U.S. prices also need confirmation. NetSuite's annual license includes the core platform, optional modules and users, plus a one-time implementation fee; OneWorld is an add-on. Match scope before comparing the quotes.

Is there a free NetSuite or Odoo plan?

Odoo One App Free is $0 for unlimited users on one app, plus that app's dependencies, on Odoo Online, with no end date. A second independent app moves every user to Standard, and the free file becomes a paid seat contract. NetSuite's ERP page describes an annual license and a one-time implementation fee; it does not list a free production tier.

When does Odoo force the Custom plan?

Custom is required for multiple companies on a paid multi-app database, for Odoo Studio on top of other apps, for agentic AI, for custom developments, and for an external API, meaning another system that calls Odoo. Bank sync and payment providers that Odoo calls stay on Standard. One App Free can hold several companies, and Studio can be the one free app. Hosting on Odoo.sh or on your own servers is a Custom choice, and Odoo.sh is not included in the seat price.

How long does a NetSuite or Odoo implementation take, and what is priced?

Odoo lists packs from 4 to 200 hours; the configurator says hours expire after one year. Confirm the current U.S. price and scope with Odoo or a partner. NetSuite's article gives 8 to 14 weeks for a simple single-entity project, 4 to 11 months midmarket, and 9 to 18 months for a global rollout. SuiteSuccess is a fixed fee that is not printed, and configuration and build is the largest slice, about 30% to 35% of the services budget.

Can either system be hosted on our own servers?

Odoo Custom can run on your own servers: download Odoo Enterprise, or pay for Odoo.sh, while Standard stays on Odoo Online with no download. On-premise Odoo has to stay on the latest stable version, and the upgrades are your staff cost. NetSuite's product pages describe a cloud subscription in one regional data center and publish no on-premise license, so a rule that demands your own facility points to Odoo Custom.

What does a 20-user Odoo budget look like over three years?

For 20 full users, request current first-year and renewal seat rates, a scoped implementation quote and any hosting, tax, integration and maintenance charges. Apply the confirmed rates to 20 users for each billing period, and compare the same scope with NetSuite. We did not confirm the U.S. checkout prices needed for a reliable dollar total.
