Finance Software Price Increases 2026: A Dated Tracker
QuickBooks Online, Xero, FreshBooks and BILL raised US list prices in 2026; Ramp, Brex and Stripe Billing held. Old and new prices, dates and what it adds up to.

Four of seven finance tools we track raised US list prices in 2026: QuickBooks Online, Xero, FreshBooks and BILL. The steepest rise is QuickBooks Online Advanced, from $275 to $340 a month (+23.6%), and the median increase across the 11 plans that went up is 9.5%. Ramp, Brex and Stripe Billing kept their published prices as of October 2026, and Intuit cut Bill Pay Elite in half.
CFOpresso data: we compared the US pricing page of each vendor as archived between 20 December 2025 and 21 January 2026 with the live page read on 21 October 2026. Of the 16 published plans in that set, 11 cost more in October than in January, 5 cost the same, and none went down. Every percentage and annual total below is our arithmetic on those list prices.
The tracker covers tools that print a US list price. Quote-only platforms such as ERPs and FP&A suites cannot be tracked this way, because there is no public number to compare; our FP&A pricing comparison shows how few planning vendors publish one.

All prices are monthly list prices on monthly billing, before introductory discounts. Start-of-2026 prices come from the vendors' own US pricing pages as archived by the Internet Archive: QuickBooks, 24 December 2025, Xero, 20 December 2025, FreshBooks, 1 January 2026, BILL, 20 December 2025, Ramp, 8 January 2026, Brex, 21 December 2025 and Stripe Billing, 27 December 2025. October prices were read on 21 October 2026 on QuickBooks pricing, Xero US pricing, FreshBooks pricing, BILL pricing, Ramp pricing, Brex pricing and Stripe Billing pricing. "First seen" dates bracket the change between the last archived copy at the old price and the first at the new one, except QuickBooks, whose date is Intuit's own.
QuickBooks Online: the largest rise, aimed at the top plans
Intuit raised the three upper plans for renewals on or after 1 August 2026 and left Simple Start alone, according to its price change note. Its accountant FAQ adds that the new prices appeared on the website on 3 August 2026, and that accountant-billed subscriptions move on their next billing date after 1 August.
The shape of the rise matters more than the headline. The bigger the plan, the bigger the percentage: Essentials rose about 13%, Plus about 22% and Advanced about 24%. A company on Advanced now pays $780 more a year than at the January price, our arithmetic on monthly billing. Intuit pairs the increase with bundling: Advanced now includes Bill Pay Elite, which the FAQ values at up to $540 a year, plus construction and project tools it values at up to $900 a year.
That bundle is only a saving if you were already paying for those add-ons. A controller on Advanced who had no separate Bill Pay subscription gets more features and a $65 higher monthly bill. Our QuickBooks Online pricing breakdown walks through each plan's user limits, which decide when a team is forced up a tier.
The one cut of the year also came from Intuit. Bill Pay Elite fell from $90 to $45 a month for new and renewing subscriptions on 8 June 2026, per the same FAQ, before being folded into Advanced in August.
Xero: a small, even rise in October
Xero's three US plans each rose between 7% and 8%, and the new prices appeared on its US pricing page between 30 September and 2 October 2026. Early moved by $2, Growing by $4 and Established by $7. For a business on Established that is $84 more a year, our multiplication.
The rise does not change Xero's position against QuickBooks: Established at $97 still sits between QuickBooks Online Essentials and Plus, and Xero's increases of 7% to 8% stayed well below Intuit's 13% to 24%. Our Xero vs QuickBooks Online comparison covers which one fits a growing finance team, and the Xero review sets out the plan limits behind those prices.
FreshBooks: early-year increases on every plan
FreshBooks raised Lite, Plus and Premium early in 2026, with the new prices visible on its US page between 12 January and 22 February. Plus took the largest step, $5 a month or about 13%. These are list prices on monthly billing; FreshBooks shows a rotating introductory discount on top, which has ranged from 60% to 90% off during 2026 and is not a list price.
For a finance buyer, FreshBooks is mostly relevant as the invoicing tool a small business outgrows before moving to QuickBooks or Xero. The increase narrows the gap: FreshBooks Premium at $70 now sits $15 below QuickBooks Online Essentials.
BILL: the per-user rise that compounds with headcount
BILL raised its two lower accounts payable and receivable plans at the turn of the year, between 28 December 2025 and 9 January 2026, and kept Corporate at $89 per user. Team rose the most, by $10 per user per month.
Per-user pricing is where a modest-looking increase grows. A five-user AP team on BILL Team pays $50 more a month, or $600 more a year, than at the December price, our arithmetic. BILL's pricing page also says Corporate and Enterprise customers can cut cost by limiting full access to the people who create and pay bills, which is worth doing before a renewal. Our BILL pricing explainer and AP automation pricing comparison show how the plans line up against rivals.
Who held prices: Ramp, Brex and Stripe Billing
Ramp Plus stayed at $15 per user per month, Brex Premium at $12 per user per month, and Stripe Billing's pay-as-you-go rate at 0.7% of billing volume. Ramp still prints a 20% discount for annual billing, and Brex still starts at $0 per user. Stripe Billing's annual contract tiers also kept the same monthly minimums.
Holding a price is a competitive choice as much as a cost one. Spend platforms sell to the same controllers that just absorbed a QuickBooks or BILL increase, and a stable per-user rate is part of the pitch. See our Ramp pricing, Brex pricing and Stripe Billing pricing pages for the full plan detail.
What the increases add up to for a small finance stack
A common setup for a company with a part-time controller is QuickBooks Online Plus for the books and BILL Team with three users for payables. At January prices that was $280 a month. At October prices it is $335 a month, an increase of $55 a month or $660 a year, which is 19.6% more for the same two tools, our arithmetic on list prices with monthly billing.
| Stack | Start of 2026 | October 2026 | Annual difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| QuickBooks Online Plus + BILL Team (3 users) | $280/mo | $335/mo | +$660 |
| QuickBooks Online Advanced + BILL Team (5 users) | $550/mo | $665/mo | +$1,380 |
| Xero Established + BILL Essentials (2 users) | $180/mo | $195/mo | +$180 |
Totals are our arithmetic on the list prices in the first table, before any discount, tax or transaction fee.
The bigger the stack, the more the increases compound, because both QuickBooks and BILL put their steepest rises on the plans growing companies use. Our CFO software pricing index tracks the wider set of finance tools by category, and the best accounting software ranking compares the ledgers on fit as well as price.
How to protect your next renewal
- Read the renewal date, not the announcement date. QuickBooks applies new prices on each subscription's next billing date after 1 August, so two companies on the same plan can see the increase months apart.
- Ask whether an annual commitment freezes the rate. Ramp prints a 20% saving for annual billing; vendors that do not print one may still offer it on a call.
- Count seats before renewal on per-user tools. On BILL, every user on Essentials and Team is billed as a standard user, so removing inactive users is the cheapest saving available.
- Check whether a bundle replaces a bill you already pay. Intuit's Advanced bundle is only a saving for companies that had separate Bill Pay Elite or industry add-ons.

Methodology
We compared each vendor's US pricing page as archived by the Internet Archive between 20 December 2025 and 21 January 2026 with the live page on 21 October 2026, recording monthly list prices on monthly billing and ignoring introductory discounts. Change dates come from Intuit's own notes for QuickBooks and, for the others, from the last archived copy at the old price and the first at the new one. Vendors without a published US list price are excluded. We will add tools and update the table as new increases are announced; how we work is set out in our editorial policy.
Toolradar, the software directory we run, keeps profiles of QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks and BILL for readers comparing these tools on ratings. For plan-by-plan detail on the spend platforms, see Ramp vs Brex and our BILL review.
