FloQast vs BlackLine (2026): Which Is Better for Finance Teams?
FloQast vs BlackLine for finance teams in 2026: checklists, reconciliations, ERP connectors and why neither vendor publishes a price.
FloQast fits a checklist-driven close, and BlackLine fits high-volume reconciliation. Neither vendor publishes a list price, so no cost ranking is possible yet. FloQast sells three packages through contact sales with no per-user fee, and BlackLine's pages send buyers to a demo request.
Prices and product claims below were checked on 10 October 2026 on the vendors' own pages, and the Toolradar listings for both tools were read the same day. Vendor statements are reported as the vendors' claims. Toolradar data: Toolradar lists six paid FloQast plans, each marked Contact Sales, and three alternatives for each vendor. Toolradar's pages are FloQast and BlackLine.

Close checklists: FloQast wins
FloQast organizes the close around its checklist. Each task carries an owner, an entity, a duration, its dependencies and a due date. Dashboards flag tasks at risk, and checklists roll forward on their own, so a controller does not rebuild the calendar each month. That is the vendor's description, and it is the piece a close team uses every day.
BlackLine lists Task Management as one of its products, but its reconciliation and matching pages center on the accounts, not on the close calendar. For a team whose close is mostly a list of owners and deadlines, FloQast fits the job more directly. Nothing here comes from a trial, so the test is whether your checklist survives a demo with your own entities.
FloQast's Close AI tier adds AI matching for three-way and high-volume daily transactions. On paper, the gap between the two is depth, not presence. Depth is what a demo should test.
Reconciliations: BlackLine wins on volume
BlackLine's account reconciliation product is built for accounts reconciled daily or as needed. Its page describes automatic grouping of transactions into one view, automated matching with exception handling inside a single process, and Verity Prepare, an agent that drafts the reconciliation for a human reviewer. The company also says every AI action leaves an audit trail. BlackLine calls itself the leading automated reconciliation software. That is the vendor's claim, and this page does not test it.
FloQast's reconciliation module is built around tie-out. Balances are tied to support, reconciling items are tracked, and review and sign-off are enforced before the close can complete. A completeness check confirms every account is reconciled before the close is done. Its Close AI tier adds automated reconciliations for amortization, depreciation and subledgers.
The call depends on the bottleneck. A team that needs sign-off discipline across many accounts will find FloQast's workflow more direct. A team where the matching queue is the bottleneck should weight BlackLine's matching first, and ask both vendors to run the same transaction file.
ERP integrations: FloQast names more connectors
FloQast's product page shows logos for Workday, Oracle NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Yardi, Sage Intacct, Xero and QuickBooks, and it has dedicated pages for NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft, SAP, Xero and Workday. A logo says a connector exists. It does not say which modules sync, how often, or whether your entity structure is covered, so ask for those details in the demo.
BlackLine's reconciliation page names no ERP connector. Its product menu includes Smart Close for SAP, so an SAP shop should ask for that product by name.
On the evidence, FloQast wins this row. For a NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Xero ledger, its page answers the question. For SAP, get BlackLine's connector in writing before you rule it out. If the ledger is still open, the NetSuite vs Sage Intacct comparison and the NetSuite review cover the two ledgers most finance teams weigh first, and the accounting software guide should come before any close tool.
Pricing: no list price from either vendor
FloQast's pricing page lists three packages. Close Management is the base. Close AI is labeled the most popular and builds on Close Management, adding AI agents, matching, reconciliations and journal entries. Risk and Compliance can be bought on its own or with any close package. Each package carries a Contact Sales button. The page says there are no per-user fees, and it says packages scale with results rather than seats. It publishes no dollar figure, minimum or trial length.
BlackLine's reconciliation page and its transaction-matching page show a demo request and no price figure. Toolradar's BlackLine listing says the same: paid plans only, with current prices on the vendor's site.
Toolradar data: Toolradar's FloQast listing shows six plans, Close Optimization, Close Automation, Connected Compliance, Compliance Pro, FloQast Reporting and FloQast Transform, all marked Contact Sales. Those names do not match the three packages on FloQast's own pricing page. Use the vendor page for current packaging, and ask the rep which package names apply to your quote.
Because neither vendor publishes a number, a CFO cannot run the arithmetic from public sources. The useful move is to send the same scope to both vendors: entities, modules, the ledger connector, users, term length, renewal cap and implementation fee. Compare the two written quotes on those lines, not on a headline rate.
Implementation: no winner from public pages
FloQast's product page carries the headline "Automate Workflows. In Minutes.", but no onboarding timeline sits beneath it. Its customer example says one finance team cut its month-end close from 14 days to 4. That is a result, not a deployment time. BlackLine's pages give no onboarding timeline either.
Our best AI for the financial close guide says enterprise close platforms can take months to implement. Neither vendor's pages state a timeline, so that claim stays untested here. Ask both vendors for a written plan with milestones and a go-live date before you score this row.
AI features: both vendors make the claim
FloQast says its AI agents run a process described in plain language, that nothing reaches the books without human approval, and that every decision is traceable and exportable. It also says it is ISO 42001 certified and SOC 2 Type II compliant. Those are vendor statements. Ask for the certificates by name.
BlackLine's AI layer, Verity AI, is tied on its copy to reconciliation preparation. Verity Prepare drafts the reconciliation and leaves the final review to a person, and the platform keeps an audit trail of every AI action.
Neither set of claims lets us score AI quality from public copy. FloQast names more AI functions on its pages, and BlackLine's copy ties its AI to reconciliation work. For how close tools sit in the wider finance stack, the AI for accounting explainer covers the layers, and the AI agents for finance guide covers the human approval question in more depth.
Who should pick which
Pick FloQast if the close is a checklist problem: many owners, many deadlines and reviewers who sign off in one place. It also fits best when your ledger is one of the connectors its page names. Expect a quote, not a list price.
Pick BlackLine if reconciliation volume is the bottleneck. If SAP is the ledger, both vendors name an SAP connector, so ask BlackLine for Smart Close for SAP by name and compare it with FloQast's. Expect a demo and a written onboarding plan before any price.
Skip both if you need a price in the first call. Neither vendor gives one, so the quickest comparison is a written scope sent to both. If the question is planning rather than the close, the budgeting and forecasting guide is the better starting point.
Competitors on each side
Toolradar lists three alternatives for each vendor. For FloQast, those are Avalara, Safebooks AI and Leapifai. For BlackLine, they are Sage Intacct, Workiva and Coupa. The lists mix close platforms with tax, ledger and procurement tools, so treat them as a starting point, not a shortlist. For how the close fits the wider CFO agenda, see AI for CFOs. For close platforms only, the best AI for the financial close guide compares eight tools on the same criteria, and the best AI financial reporting tools guide covers the layer above the close.
How we compared
On 10 October 2026 we read five vendor pages: FloQast's pricing, product and close-management pages, and BlackLine's reconciliation and transaction-matching pages. BlackLine's price status rests on those two product pages, which show a demo request and no figure. The Toolradar listings for both tools were read on the same day. Nothing here comes from a trial or a demo. Vendor claims are reported as claims. Check both vendors again before you sign, because packages change at renewal.
FAQ
Which is better for finance teams, FloQast or BlackLine, in 2026?
FloQast fits a close that runs on a checklist with many owners and reviewers. BlackLine fits a close where reconciliation volume and matching are the bottleneck. On the public pages we checked, FloQast wins the checklist, the sign-off workflow and the named ERP list, and BlackLine wins daily, high-volume reconciliation. Pick on the bottleneck, then ask both vendors for a written quote on the same scope.
How much does FloQast cost compared with BlackLine?
Neither vendor publishes a price. FloQast sells three packages through contact sales with no per-user fee, and BlackLine's pages show a demo request with no price figure. Toolradar lists six FloQast plans, all marked Contact Sales. No dollar comparison is possible from public sources, so ask both vendors for a quote on the same scope.
Is there a free FloQast or BlackLine plan?
Neither vendor lists a free plan on the pages we read. Toolradar's BlackLine listing says it has no permanently free tier, and its FloQast listing mentions no free tier or trial. Any trial would come from the sales team, not the public pages.
Which one connects to NetSuite or SAP?
FloQast's product page shows NetSuite among its connector logos and has a dedicated NetSuite page. BlackLine's reconciliation page names no ERP connector, but its product menu includes Smart Close for SAP. For NetSuite, FloQast is the clearer answer from public copy. For SAP, ask BlackLine for the connector in writing before you rule it out.
How long does implementation take?
Neither public page we read gives an onboarding timeline. FloQast's customer example cut a month-end close from 14 days to 4, but that is a result, not a deployment time. Ask both vendors for a written plan with milestones and a go-live date.
Which tool is better for high-volume reconciliations?
BlackLine's reconciliation page is built for daily and high-volume reconciliation, with automated matching, transaction grouping in one view and exception handling. FloQast's Close AI tier also adds AI matching for three-way and high-volume daily transactions. Ask both vendors to run the same transaction file in a demo before you choose.
What are the main alternatives?
Toolradar lists Avalara, Safebooks AI and Leapifai as FloQast alternatives, and Sage Intacct, Workiva and Coupa as BlackLine alternatives. Those lists mix close platforms with tax, ledger and procurement tools. For close-only tools, the best AI for the financial close guide compares eight platforms on the same criteria.
